Allan V. Rose met Howard D. Johnson and opened his first franchised hotel, a “Hojo” in Elmsford, NY, which he successfully operated. He went on to build some 30 Howard Johnson’s in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Florida and Maryland and became the favored developer on the East Coast. By 1990, he would own 50 “Hojos.”
