Shortly after Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans in 2006, AVR purchased, gut-renovated and restored the historic building and “social center of the South” with its famed Blue Room and radio station where stars such as Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Jimmy Duranti and Frank Sinatra performed. In 2009, AVR completed the $150 million restoration and opened the hotel, branding it a Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The 125-year-old hotel, one block from the French Quarter, was reborn with all the grandeur and luxury of old New Orleans and went on to become world-renowned, winning numerous accolades and awards, especially for our holiday lobby displays. With over 500 rooms, 85,000 SF of meeting, event and exhibition space, a rooftop pool, world-renowned Sazerac bar and massive spa, this is a powerhouse trophy hotel.
